Description
The term, “Blob” was coined by Richard Sorin when one head of a 100-lb Dumbbell defied his grip, and he vowed to develop the Pinching Strength to lift it.
What followed was a saga of Pinch Strength Training, and when the dust finally settled, Sorin had conquered the Blob.
Ever since then, lifting a half 100-lb Blob has been one of the most common goals of aspiring Grip Enthusiasts.
Unfortunately, they have become harder and harder to locate in recent years.
And when you do run across one, it is impossible to tell what shape a Blob will be in when you finally find one – Will it have the original paint job? Will it be re-painted? Was it beaten and abused? Was it kept in storage in pristine condition for decades?
Now, you can own The New Standard in Block Weight Lifting – the Diesel Power Steel Blob.
The Diesel Power Steel Blob is a machined replica of what has come to be know as “a Fatman Blob,” the original style of York Blobs that has slightly rounder sides and is tougher to lift than all the other generations of York Blobs.
The Diesel Power Steel Blob is made from a steel billet with a lathe, and machined to the precise slope measurements of a brand new Fatman Blob.
Because they are made from steel, the Diesel Power Steel Blobs weigh slightly more than York Blobs, made of cast iron.
Our Steel Blobs generally tip the scales at about 56 to 57 lbs, making them more challenging, but at the same time, you can rest assured that YOURS will be precisely the same as any other Diesel Power Steel Blob out there!
Aside from the beautiful steel surface and weight, the only other difference between the Diesel Power Steel Blob and a York Fatman Blob is the absence of a flat spot on the bottom. This was done to control expense as much as possible, as flattening that spot would add more manufacturing costs.
One other thing about the surface of the Diesel Power Steel Blob: The first two prototypes DID NOT like to take chalk well. But with time, chalk finally started to stick. Once it does, it will make a huge difference in the grip you can get on it.
TIP: Don’t chalk the entire Blob right away. Apply it only to small sections of the Blob. When you turn it over, you will essentially have two different Steel Blobs that you can train to lift – seasoned and unseasoned.
All the best in your training,
Jedd
